Landfill and Recycling (Technical) Committee

Ensures the accurate and timely dissemination of information on waste management facility permitting, design, construction operations as well as technology transfer for recycling, transfer stations, landfills and other technical issues. Legislative Committee

Tracks legislation within Virginia that may affect solid waste management professionals and their operations. Informs and educates members of significant proposed legislation. Contact Tim Torrez: (804) 749-3805

Safety Committee

SWANA has a strong commitment to safety and is determined to help move the waste collection industry off of the federal government's list of 10 most dangerous job and reduce accidents and injuries. Communication Committee

Produces SWANA Old Dominion Chapter quarterly newsletter. Develops programs and activities to increase awareness and interest in the chapter and its programs. Ensures active communications continue within the chapter. Contact Jon Clary: (804) 727-8774

Awards and Scholarship Committee

Promotes and monitors scholarship programs from the SWANA Old Dominion Chapter and SWANA national organization.  Contact Clark Gibson: (434) 455-6079 

Membership Committee

Training  Committee

International Board Member

Young Professionals (YP)

This committee is a resource to help YPs advance professionally in the solid waste industry. The SWANA YP Group puts on networking events for its members throughout the year and at SWANA conferences.
