Open Board Position Announcement
The Board of Directors of the Old Dominion Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America has two vacancies that need to be filled. One position will complete a two year term starting January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2025; the other vacancy will complete a one year term starting January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2024. Interested parties will be placed on the winter ballot for the selection of the 2023 officers and directors.
The Board is also seeking a member to serve as the chapter Safety Ambassador. The Ambassador helps coordinate annual safety training and disseminates safety related information to the Chapter from National SWANA. This positon is selected by the Board of Directors and participates in the Board meetings.
The Board has 14 members who are solid waste professionals representing government, consulting and industry throughout Virginia.
The Board meets every other month. Meetings are generally held in the Richmond area and via teleconference meetings.
Board members are expected to prepare for and attend Board meetings and to participate in Board and Chapter activities including training sessions, technical tours, awards and scholarship programs, legislative programs and conferences.
The current Board is made up of individuals with a broad range of expertise and knowledge in solid waste management and recycling. The individual to fill the open position must be a member in good standing of the Old Dominion Chapter, needs to have expertise in some aspect of the business and have a demonstrated desire to serve Chapter members and the Board.
