Description:
Vanguard Renewables anaerobic digestion facility co-located at Oakmulgee Dairy Farm in Virginia is a joint venture between Vanguard Renewables and TotalEnergies, which aims to advance the development, construction, and operation of renewable natural gas (RNG) projects across the United States. Amelia AD1 is designed to process up to 275 tons of food and beverage waste per day and generate approximately .3BCF of renewable natural gas (RNG) annually or the equivalent of heating 5,300 homes annually. Through a strategic partnership with AstraZeneca, the RNG is being used to power AstraZeneca's U.S. R&D and manufacturing footprint—equivalent to 36% of their global power consumption.
Come join SWANA Virginia Chapter members for a tour of the facility, the only solid waste digester in the Commonwealth. Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Closed-toe shoes are required, steel-toe preferred.
Lunch will be provided off-site following the tour (details TBD). Members who attend will receive two (2) continuing education credits.
