Virginia DEQ Updates

This section of the web site is devoted to solid waste updates related to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce upcoming opportunities for collaboration and information exchange on technical solid waste groundwater issues. As part of my ongoing commitment to promote efficiency and streamlining of Virginia’s solid waste programs, it is necessary that the Department, our permitted facilities and consultants understand the role that quality plays in our regulatory processes and in decision-making.

DEQ is currently investigating opportunities to streamline Virginia’s groundwater program (this includes potentially significant changes in our regulations and guidance for solid waste facilities) in order to maximize the use of facility resources while protecting human health and the environment. You are invited to learn more about our future plans, and provide input, while also working with us to improve the quality of groundwater submissions and subsequent DEQ review comments.

We are developing an agenda and will provide additional information pertaining to this event in the very near future. If you or your firm is interested in participating in future improvement opportunities, you are highly encouraged to attend this session.

Date: September 7, 2011
Time: 10 am- 4 pm
Location: DEQ Central Office
629 East Main St.
